An Important Get-Together
This one’s gonna have to be a quickie, concerning the Relic’s workload for Thursday … but it’s a vital one.
I was readin’ the Observer and came across a very special dinner and auction coming up.
The Charlotte Ski Bees, who’ve raised more than $150,000 over the years for Mecklenburg County’s Special Olympics program, is gonna celebrate their silver anniversary (of supporting the Special Olympics) with a spaghetti dinner and auction this coming Saturday.
The wing-ding’s gonna be from 7-10:30 p.m. in the Activity Center at St. Gabriel Catholic Church, on Providence Road at Sharon Amity Road in southeast Charlotte. And, folks, if you’ve ever seen the courage, the love and the joy that comes from these kids while going through the various S. O. events, you’ll know that this fundraiser is extremely precious! Every participant, though he or she may have a mental and physical disability, shows the truest meaning of “triumph over adversity”!
Tickets will be on sale at the door and are $10 for adults, and $5 for children ages 5-12. Children 4 and younger can eat for free. (and, listen … these folks can downright cook! So don’t miss out!)
Now, the auction itself will feature a carload of prizes, including life tickets to several ski resorts across the country; vacation packages at resorts; jewelry; YMCA memberships; restaurant certificates; and a whole lot more.
So come on and dig in! For more information about the event, check Subscribe to Charlotte, NC. It's Free!
