All around the two Carolinas, folks are buzzin’ about Barack Obama’s newest “name” supporter, former candidate John Edwards.

According to the folks I’ve talked with, it’s interesting that, at this stage of the game, John decided to side with the Illinois Senator. Some have said it’s a “ploy” to become VP if Barack becomes Prez; others, that it’s something Edwards was planning anyway, but wanted to wait until he could get the press for it.

Sorry, folks … wrong on both counts! Y’see, after the Carolina attorney dropped outta the race, he hadta get his own life back in gear; his wife, Betty, is still undergoing treatment for cancer, he’s gotta get back into the business arena again, and work with his delegates to see how and where they stand on the issue.

Then, as most of us would, he had to take a good, solid look at both candidates, work with his own team (and delegates) to determine which is really the best to support (based on the issues).
After all that, plus what I said just above it, he made his decision. I don’t think it was based on some kinda “ulterior motive”, because that’s not the way Edwards has ever been known to operate!

The key to this whole campaign among Democrats isn’t about “Hillary vs. Obama” or whatever, though. Sure, they both want the nomination. And the struggle has ripped the pants of the Democratic Party a bit.
But we can mend that rip by realizing the common goal here: that another four years of Republican leadership just ain’t gonna cut it!
That’s what Barack, John, Hillary — and whoever else is out there — realizes. And that’s what’s gonna make or break this campaign, no matter who’s nominated!
